Privacy Notice
Last updated:
This notice explains how Rackulate (rackulate.com) handles information, written to follow current UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 principles.
1. Controller
Rackulate is provided by the operator of rackulate.com, who is the controller for any personal data processed in connection with this service — see the Legal Notice for further operator identification details. Questions about this notice or about your data can be sent to privacy@rackulate.com.
2. No accounts, and Cloudflare hosting
Rackulate has no user accounts, sign-in or login of any kind — there is nothing to authenticate, and no session or authentication cookie is set. rackulate.com is hosted on the Cloudflare network, which processes standard technical connection data (such as IP address and request details) purely to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's own privacy practices; Rackulate's own application code does not receive or store this information. Project data you enter stays in your own browser's local storage on your own device — see Section 3 for what is stored and where — and Rackulate does not use advertising or analytics cookies of any kind.
3. Project information stored in your browser
Rackulate is a browser-based application. The warehouse dimensions, site details, racking configuration, layout, calculations and any other project information you enter are normally stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device. This information is not routinely sent to Rackulate or to anyone else — there is no account system, no cloud sync, and no server that Rackulate's own code sends your project data to as part of normal use. See the Cookies & Local Storage page for exactly what is stored and where.
4. Exported project files
Rackulate lets you export a project to a file and import it again later. Once exported, that file is on your own device (or wherever you choose to save or send it) and is entirely under your control. You are responsible for storing and sharing exported project files securely, in the same way you would any other business document containing project or site details. Rackulate has no visibility of, and no access to, files once they leave your device.
5. Information processed when you contact Rackulate
If you email privacy@rackulate.com or hello@rackulate.com, that message and any personal information you choose to include in it (for example, your name, email address and the contents of your message) is processed in order to read, respond to and keep a record of that correspondence. The lawful basis for this is legitimate interests — running a working point of contact for the service and responding to enquiries — or, where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering into an arrangement with you. We do not use your contact email for any other purpose without telling you.
6. Purposes and lawful bases, in summary
- Providing the application itself: no personal data is needed or collected by Rackulate to plan a warehouse layout — project data stays in your browser (see Section 3).
- Hosting and securing the site: legitimate interests in delivering and protecting the service via Cloudflare's hosting infrastructure, as set out in Section 2.
- Responding to email enquiries: legitimate interests in operating a contactable service, as set out in Section 5.
Rackulate does not currently use analytics or advertising technologies, so there is no processing connected with those activities to describe here.
7. Retention
Project information stored in your browser stays there until you clear it yourself, clear your browser's site data, or it is overwritten by newer project data — see the Cookies & Local Storage page for details on each item stored, all of which is cleared if you clear your browser's site data. Email correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, then deleted or anonymised.
8. Recipients
Email correspondence is handled through the email provider behind privacy@rackulate.com and hello@rackulate.com. Technical connection data involved in hosting the site (Section 2) is handled by Cloudflare. Rackulate does not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
9. International transfers
Where applicable, information sent by email may be processed on servers outside the UK by the email provider used for privacy@rackulate.com and hello@rackulate.com, under that provider's own safeguards. Cloudflare's hosting network (Section 2) operates globally, which may involve processing outside the UK under Cloudflare's own safeguards. Web fonts are served from Google's global font infrastructure when you load any Rackulate page, which may also involve processing outside the UK under Google's own arrangements, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. This notice will be updated if that changes.
10. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis that applies, you may have the right to: be informed about how your data is used; access the personal data held about you; have inaccurate data corrected; have data erased; restrict or object to processing; and data portability. Not every right applies in every situation — for example, rights connected to consent-based processing do not apply to processing carried out under a different lawful basis. To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@rackulate.com.
11. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how your personal data has been handled, you can contact us first at privacy@rackulate.com. You also have the right to complain directly to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
12. Changes to this notice
This notice may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change whenever it does.
